Independent Research

During the summer of 2024 I had started an independent research project with a professor as a mentor. My project involves leveraging Neural Networks for early detection of breast cancer. I used 5 different neural network models on 2 datasets (the Breast Cancer Coimbra Dataset (BCCD) and the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Dataset (WBCD)) and my results exceeded past results using different models in previous papers, with a high of 99.12% accuracy on the WBCD. I am currently working on publishing the paper of my findings and will be presenting a poster on my findings in a few symposiums/fairs throughout Spring of 2025.

I also won the following awards for this project:

• Finalist for the 2024 National STEM Festival

• 2nd place at Southern Nevada Science fair Engineering, Computer science, and Mathematics division.
